Carrots improve eyesite?

Can Carrots improve eye-site?

Whether carrots can improve eye site or not has been a topic of great controversy. Some folks like to say that Parents used this little white lie to trick their kids into eating their veggies while others say that carrots have actually dramatically improved their eyesite.

I took the test personally and found that carrots do improve vision but just slightly. It's like taking calcium pills and saying you feel healthier.

Let's break this down to see how carrots actually work:

Carrots are involved in vision, thanks to their link to Vitamin A. The Vitamin A travels in the blood to the retina (in the eye) where it is converted into a chemical called "retinal." When light hits this retinal chemical, it changes shape and starts off a process, which ends with electricity travelling to the visual centres at the back of the brain. No Vitamin A = no retinal in your retina. No carotenes or Vitamin A in your diet causes vision problems.

So if you have minimal vision problems, carrots might actually help but for the rest of you - a break from the computer screen and some exercise will help more.
